Since the passing of Sensei Kase, Sensei Arie has formed the Australian Kase-Ha Shotokan Academy to continue to promote the direction, values and knowledge that Sensei Kase developed.

  Miro Dropka

Miroslav (‘Miro’) Dropka has extensive practical training and experience across a range of martial arts disciplines including Shotokan Karate (San Dan), Aikibudo (Sho Dan) and Vale Tudo. He strongly believes that cross training offers benefits to everyone, and that the combination of different styles is essential for self-defence because no one set of movements will be suitable for people of all shapes and sizes.

Miro has lived this philosophy not only through this training in different disciplines, which also includes 5 years’ study of Wing Chun as well as achieving proficiency in kali sticks (escrima), nunchaku and knife, but also by performing very successfully in various cross-styles of full contact tournament fighting.

Prior to his arrival in Australia in 2002, Miro was a member of the CSLA’s (Czechoslovak Socialist Army) elite Special Forces Unit (4 years) before undertaking his degree in Physiotherapy in 1994.

With a lifetime interest in fitness, including working as a Personal Trainer and participating in endurance activities as well as triathalons and decathalons, Miro enjoys challenging his personal limits and pushing his students to find theirs. He completed a Practical Self Defence instructor course under Arie Farcas in 2011 and has since further expanded these skills, while passing them on to others.

Miro’s classes offer the opportunity for people of all sizes, shapes and backgrounds to learn a highly effective, no-nonsense, practical system of self-defence in a professional and safe environment. The co-location of these classes with the Zanshin Shotokan Dojo also offers those students who may wish to continue with further study of the martial arts an opportunity to do so in a friendly, fun group.
